Dr. Vianne Timmons

President and Vice-Chancellor, Memorial University

Raised in Newfoundland and Labrador, Dr. Vianne Timmons, OC, became the first female president and vice-chancellor of Memorial in April of 2020, having served as president of the University of Regina since 2008.

 

Dr. Timmons has extensive teaching experience across Canada, with wide-ranging research interests, with particular emphasis on family literacy and inclusive education.

 

She has received numerous awards, including Officer of the Order of Canada in 2017, and the 2019 YWCA Women of Distinction Lifetime Achievement Award. She was also named one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women on four occasions.
