Jessica Wood

Aquatic Science Technician
Fisheries and Oceans Canada

Jessica recently completed an MSc thesis in 2020 under the supervision of Dr. Scott Grant (Fisheries and Marine Institute). Her research focused on the distribution, abundance, and life-history of soft-shelled clams in southern Baffin Island.  She conducted field observations in inner Frobisher Bay and Hudson Strait, specifically Iqaluit and Kimmirut.  Her work is helping to inform community-based resource harvest plans and conservation measures.

Following graduation, Jessica accepted a position with Fisheries and Oceans Canada in Dartmouth, NS.  She is working as an Aquatic Science Technician with the Population Ecology Division, where she supports scientific advice for the Nova Scotia and Newfoundland offshore clam fishery.
