Kelly is the Director of The Launch, the Fisheries and Marine Institute’s cold ocean innovation hub based in Holyrood, NL. For over 13 years, her work has focused on the management and administration of multidisciplinary research initiatives that connect the talents and abilities of academic and student researchers with the innovation and ingenuity of the public and private sector.
Her work with the Marine Institute supports initiatives that leverage the talents and capabilities of Canada’s oceans communities and she is actively engaged in projects that promote the adoption of technology in the ocean sector. In her previous roles with the Canadian Integrated Ocean Observing System (CIOOS) and the Centre for Applied Ocean Technology (CTec) at MI, Kelley worked directly with Canadian stakeholders and rights holders to develop innovative public-private partnerships and identify collaborative opportunities for oceans data and information exchange.
This work has connected her with all facets of Canada’s oceans community from the private sector to academia, NGOs and Indigenous communities, all of whom play an integral role in managing Canada’s oceans. Kelley has a B.Sc. in Agricultural Science from Dalhousie University and a Masters of Marine Studies from Memorial University of Newfoundland.
